Did you know that ABS supports a wide range of people working in the built environment?

The built environment brings together a number of different professionals, all of whom display a blend of creativity and practicality in designing buildings and spaces in which people live, work and play. That’s why, as a charity dedicated to helping the wider architectural profession, we are proud to support:

♦ Architects
"ABS has been brilliant in supporting me at a time of crisis in my life, with practical advice and financial help" Ian, Architect

♦ Architectural assistants
"I felt reassured. With ABS alongside me, I kept going"  Alina, Architectural Assistant

♦ Landscape architects
"Having assumed that there is no help available for working professionals like me, it was a huge relief to hear that there is" Michelle, Landscape Architect

♦ Architectural technologists and technicians
"I don’t know where I’d be without them – but certainly not in my own home. It’s so reassuring to know the ABS is always there at the end of the phone should I ever need them" Colin, Architectural Technician

...and their families!!

Over the coming year, we will be putting our efforts into raising awareness to make sure that all the professions we help know about the range of support we can offer for those who need it. We are excited to be launching our Ambassador scheme later this year to encourage people to get involved in awareness raising regionally for all the different professions, so watch this space!

As we continue growing our support we are honoured and delighted to welcome our two new trustees; Kathy Thurman, from the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT) and Nigel Thorne from the Landscape Institute.

"With the sad loss of Marjorie Smith MCIAT at the end of 2015 I was very pleased to be asked to be the CIAT representative and follow in her well respected footsteps, our members appreciate the important role played by ABS in a profession that has its highs and lows within the built environment". Kathy Thurman

"As a professional in the built environment one never knows when more difficult times may arise. It is so important that organisations such as ABS exist and that the help and assistance they can offer is presented to the widest possible audience. That’s why I was keen to be a trustee with the Society". Nigel Thorne
