In order to sustain our work in caring for architects, assistants, technologists and landscape architects and their dependants we need a reliable stream of income. Much of this is provided by investments but a number of good people give a modest monthly donation or raise funds for the Society in other ways. Peter Murray is one of those good people.
Peter’s first fundraiser for the ABS was a sponsored cycle ride across Cuba in 2004. His latest plan is to cycle from RIBA HQ in Portland Place to Portland Oregon – a distance of over 4000 miles.
Peter says “I hope to attract a dozen or so riders to share the journey and many hundreds more to join us for shorter stretches - including ABS Trustees.”
He hopes to raise money by presenting a CPD lecture to practices on the skills of marketing, communication and networking under the title “So you want to be famous”. At the end of his presentation he will tell the audience about his ride, the work of the ABS and Article 25, who are also to benefit from his ride, and ask them to donate on a regular basis to their professional charities.
“Charity begins at home” and “Just £2 a week would make a real difference if every architect were to do it” are Peter’s mantra.
