Working Together

Working closely with the membership organisations of the professions we support means that we can reach out to many more people to let them know we are here to help when they need us. Furthermore, within each of the various professional bodies, we are delighted to have strong support and engagement, which helps significantly with our fundraising and awareness raising. Here are a few highlights!

The Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT) and the Young Architectural Technologists Network (YATN) continuously support us through their events, regular donations and by helping to promote our welfare services. They’ve been a fantastic support in the launch of our Mental Health Support offer, aiding to raise awareness to their members.

This year, we’re thrilled to be the Media Partner for their annual AT Awards dinner, which recently took place. CIAT and YATN Founders, Matthew Weir and Rori Miller are taking part in three triathlons of increasing difficulty over the course of one year. They are fundraising money for three charities and we’re thrilled to be one of them. If that’s not enough, CIAT also supports us as an organisation through regular donations and through the generous donations given by their members.

We’re proud to announce that ABS Ambassador, Eddie Weir, starts his new role as CIAT President Elect in a few months. We wish him all the very best as he takes on this new role.

We were pleased to attend the Landscape Institute (LI)’s annual conference, giving us an opportunity to spread the word about support we can provide to their members.

The Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland (RIAS) continues to be a highly valued supporter of the Society after winning our WCCA award in 2017, which recognised their exceptional support for the Society. Through the generosity of its members at events, raffles and postcard auctions, the RIAS continues to raise money to help us help more people in the profession. They even took part in our “Bake the World a Better Place” challenge earlier this year!

We’re thrilled that the Architect in the Hoose scheme is a source of income for us, for the third year running. In addition to all of the money raised, the RIAS has helped us to support and expand our ambassador programme. This year, they’ve provided us with free meeting room space to host ambassador workshops for our Scotland based ambassadors!

In November, we hosted an event with the RIAS to launch our Mental Health support in Scotland, which was a valuable way to reach out to the Scottish architectural community about this new service.

The Royal Society of Architects in Wales (RSAW) helped to support more people in the profession by organising a postcard auction for the Society. They raised several hundred pounds through this creative and fun event.

We are working with the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) to help raise awareness for mental health issues in the profession and provide support for this, through our partnership with Anxiety UK. You can read more about this collaboration and about our mental health support here.
