Men, women, children - anybody in the profession, their families and dependants can qualify for help from the Society.

None of the people featured below ever expected to need to turn to the ABS for help. They tell their stories here in order to thank the Society for help, and to encourage you to support the work of the Society.

The perils of self-employment

Mrs Williams outlines the support she and her husband, a self employed architect, received when he went bankrupt. The ABS cannot rescue a practice in trouble, but we can help you deal with the aftermath.

Poor health caused financial problems

When Gordon's health deteriorated, his small practice got into trouble. He was struggling to earn a living wage and couldn't afford to replace his broken-down boiler. The ABS helped with an interest free loan to pay for a replacement.

Andrew's Story

Andrew

Soon after qualifying, Andrew developed a brain tumour and became paralysed. During surgery he suffered a cardiac arrest and other complications. He walked into hospital and left in a wheelchair

Nothing will stop me from working.

Ray developed MS in his early 40s, at the worst of times. Unable to walk and in a parlous financial state, the ABS came to his assistance. He still working and looking forward to the future.
